We Are a True Fiduciary

When it comes to giving expert, unbiased financial advice, no one does it better than a fiduciary. In short, a fiduciary is a person who is duty-bound to act in a client’s best interest. They must also disclose all potential conflicts of interest that could arise from one investment decision or another. This is different from a “salesperson,” who need only recommend a suitable product—usually one that maximizes their commission—even if it’s not in the best interest of the client.

Financial Consulate is a true fiduciary. We operate on a “fee-only” basis, which means we never accept commissions or referral kickbacks that could create conflicts of interest. We even require our advisors to sign a yearly Fiduciary Oath and vow to always work in each client’s best interest at all times.

Our Advisors Are Certified

We require our advisors to obtain at least one well-recognized credential, including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), or Master of Business Administration (MBA). Many members of our team hold multiple designations.

Our Team Is Highly Educated

In the complex industry of financial planning, we believe there’s no such thing as being too knowledgeable! That’s why we maintain the highest level of continuing education required in the financial planning industry. This far exceeds what the CFP Board requires and ensures we remain up-to-date with the latest rules, regulations, and investment products that might interest our clients.

Our Advisors Are Experienced

The advisors at Financial Consulate average over 18 years of experience per person. When a new advisor joins our team, we require them to work under a mentor for a minimum of two to five years before they begin advising on their own. This tried-and-true policy guarantees the best investment advice possible for every client, no matter which member of our team is providing it.

We Are NAPFA-Registered

Financial planning firms must adhere to strict guidelines to become registered with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). Many of the requirements are outlined above, namely:

  • Operate as a fiduciary
  • Require all advisors to be CFPs
  • Meet stringent continuing education requirements
  • Offer comprehensive, knowledgeable financial services
  • And more

Of the 300,000 “financial advisors” in the U.S., less than 1 percent follow NAPFA’s guidelines. Financial Consulate is proud to be numbered among these highly qualified advisory firms. As an NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor, we promise to provide objective, confidential, competent, fully disclosed wealth management services to each and every client.
